No Budget? No Problem! – You Can Still Build a Great Marketing Strategy

While many businesses resort to throwing money at their marketing to get results, some companies simply do not have the same luxury when it comes to developing a good marketing strategy for themselves.

However, if you are prepared to put a bit of work into developing new skills and researching the latest trends, you can build an effective marketing strategy that doesn’t break the bank.

Let’s look at some of the most popular marketing channels:

Did you know that more than 80% of all web content will be video by 2019? Therefore, you will see lots of businesses investing large sums of money into creating engaging video content. Creating video content does not have to be expensive as a built-in laptop camera or your smartphone could suffice.

Want to edit your video to make it look professional and compelling to any viewer? If you have a Mac, then you already have access to editing apps like iMovie, or if you’re a Windows user, you have Windows Movie Maker set up ready for you to start creating awesome video content.

Not sure how to use it? Watch a great video on how to create a great video! YouTube has loads of great tutorials that you can view at no cost.

There are a variety of email templates that offer low cost, responsive email designs for you to use. Out of the current offerings, MailChimp provides a completely free service (with some limitations) that you can use to create and track powerful email campaigns.

Many businesses use podcasts to promote their services, offering advice or online tutorials through a podcast. A podcast is a sound recording, and it can be created completely for free.

You can use your smartphone to record a podcast and then upload it to SoundCloud or a similar platform to enable you to share it with people.

If you need some extra help in getting your podcasts higher in the rankings, at a fairly small cost you can buy followers for SoundCloud at Social Media Daily.

This is an effective means to improve your podcast’s popularity and rank higher than any competitors.

Content creation

If you are struggling to design professional, engaging content to go onto your website, your social media accounts or your LinkedIn pages, you could try using some free content templates that are provided on websites like

You can create excellent infographics or banners that will make your content truly stand out and impress your potential customers. Most of the templates on Canva are completely free, and you can also source images directly through the site as well, again many of them being free.

This takes up a lot less time than designing your own or trying to search for images with a licence to use.

Not all effective marketing techniques cost a lot of money, and if you do some research, you will find all kinds of fantastic marketing tools available at no extra costs.

    Hi Ramona,

Glad you mentioned Canva, it’s a pretty great resource. As a blogger, the idea that 80% of content will be video by 2019 is kinda scary. I’m much too introverted to move into video and podcasting. Do you think long-form, quality written content is on its way out?
